Treasury of Ice and Snow

When He spoke unlimited cold snow and ice were created.

Now that we are getting into the winter months, many people look forward to it cooling down and others want it hot all the time. Just think of all the things you could not do if we did not have snow or ice. No snow skiing, sledding, or snowball fights, not even those funny looking snow people. If there, were no ice on the frozen ponds there would be no ice-skating or playing ice hockey. Well, they could play street hockey but that just is not as much fun. There is so much more to do when it gets cold but not enough time or space to mention it all.

One of my favorite things to do is to just look at all the beauty. The snow as it covers everything as far as the eyes can see. It is so clean and fresh, like your part of a completely new world. If it did not ever get cold and cause the plants and trees to go to sleep, we would not have all the new life beginning in the spring.

The snow and ice are like a blanket on the earth allowing things to rest and be renewed. Oh, what colors emerge when it starts to warm and thaw out those sleeping plants and trees. As much as some would rather not have winter I look forward to it, because once it is over everything seems so alive, colorful, and new.

Job 37:6 (NKJV)
6. For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’;
Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.

Job 37:10 (NKJV)
10. By the breath of God ice is given,
And the broad waters are frozen.

Job 38:22 (NKJV)
22. “Have you entered the treasury of snow,
Or have you seen the treasury of hail,

Job 38:30 (NKJV)
30. The waters harden like stone,
And the surface of the deep is frozen.

Psalm 147:16-17 (NKJV)
16. He gives snow like wool;
He scatters the frost like ashes;
17. He casts out His hail like morsels;
Who can stand before His cold?
