Naming the Animals

When He spoke the animals were created and given names.

Can you believe that God took the time to skillfully and loving create all the animals, birds, fish and even the things that creep and crawl on the ground. I do not think we can fully imagine what those might have been, maybe snails, lizards, frogs and of course snakes. It would have been the most awesome privilege to name all the creatures that God formed out of the ground. Just think the animals did not eat each other, they were calm and Adam was not afraid, he petted them and they followed him around. It would have been like having your own personal petting zoo. How cool would that have been?

I know we all have heard the saying, Ashes to Ashes and Dust-to-Dust but I finally got the real meaning of that from God’s word. We are all formed from the earth and there we will return. After God created all the animals, He brought them to Adam to be named (just a side note it really does not say how long it took to name the animals or if God brought more than one at a time).

All was going good until Adam realized that he had no one like himself, Adam wanted a helper so he was given a wife. That is when something happened to change the course of history for humankind. All because once Adam was done naming everything that was four legged, flew in the sky, swam in water, and crawled, he wanted someone there with him in the flesh. God was there with him at all times and talked to him. It is very important to know that even if you are married or you are not God is the one and only helper you need in a marriage or out of a marriage. God is always there to help and He does not grumble or complain about helping either. He is always there.

Genesis 1:24-25 (NKJV)
24. Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.
25. And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 2:19-20 (NKJV)
19. Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.
20. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
